LAGUNA NIGUEL
Laguna Niguel is a city located in southern Orange County, California. The name "Laguna Niguel" is derived from the Spanish word "Laguna" which means lagoon, and the word "Nigueli" which was the name of a Juaneņo Indian village that was once located on Aliso Creek. The city was primarily built after 1980 as an unincorporated master planned community located in the San Joaquin Hills near Laguna Beach. Laguna Niguel is a 14.72 square mile planned community surrounded by the cities of Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo, and San Juan Capistrano.
Ideal for those that love the city and the great outdoors, over 1/3 of Laguna Niguel has been set aside for open space. The proximity to the coast provides an ideal climate which encourages a variety of year-round outdoor activities.
